The following is a list of notable achievements by the faculty of the Department:

1. Navakanta Barua (1954-1964) was awarded the Assam Prakashan Parishad (1974), the Sahitya Akademi (1975), the Padma Bhusan (1976), the Assam Valley Literary Award (1993) and the  Kamal Kumari National Award (1998).

2. Prof. Rakhee Kalita Moral was awarded the WISCOMP Saahas Prerna Award 2020 by Women in Security, Conflict and Management of Peace, New Delhi.

3. Dr. Arpana Nath, Assistant Professor, was awarded the Certificate of Appreciation for Research Contribution in 2019.

4. Dr Sanghamitra Sadhu, Assistant Professor, was awarded a Visiting Research Fellowship at the Tagore Centre for Global Thought in India Institute, King’s College, London, UK in 2015 (January-April) for pursuing research on life-writing in modern India.

5. Prof. Rakhee Kalita Moral was awarded the Nehru Fellowship at the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Teen Murti (New Delhi) from 2013 to -2016.

1. Rani Das won the Bronze Medal in Senior Girls U53 kg at 1st Kamrup Inter-International Taekwondo Championship 2020.
2. Siddhanta Bora published his first novel The Rig Chronicles: The Secret of the Sudarshan in 2021.
3. Siddhanta Bora secured 2nd prize in Quiz Competition in the 36th Inter University North East Zone Youth Festival hosted by USTM, Meghalaya, from January 4 to January 8, 2023.
4. Thaijon Maibangasa won the 1st prize in Western Instrumental (Solo) in the 36th Inter University North East Zone Youth Festival hosted by USTM, Meghalaya from January 4 to January 8, 2023.
5. Thaijon Maibangsa won 3rd prize in Western Instrumental (Solo) at the 36th Inter University National Youth Festival organized by Jain University from February 24 to February 28, 2023.
6. Siddhanta Bora won the 2nd position in the Quiz Competition organized by the Tarun Asom Sangha, Tezpur on April 7 2023.
7. Siddhanta Bora won the 2nd position in Consilium: The Inter Literary Quiz Competition held at Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankardeva Viswavidyala on May 5, 2023.
 
Batch 2021-2024
1. Mrigakhi Deka Raja secured the 1st Prize and a National Certificate in Sanskriti Sangam: the 4th International & 8th National Dance & Music festival, organised by NEV Events and Entertainment, Guwahati, 2021 
2. Mrigakhi Deka Raja was awarded the International Nritya Manjuri Sanman for Bharatnatyam in Classical Category at the Kamakhya Festival (International Music, Dance and Instrumental Festival) organised by NEV Events and Entertainment, Guwahati, 2021
3. Srutartha Bhagawati got the consolation prize in an online poem writing competition organized by Student's Union, Suren Das College.
4. Justina Borgohain won the Gold Medal in East Zone AIU Lawn Tennis Women Game in 2021.
5. Mahajabin Sheikh won the Gold Medal at the 5th Kamrup District Taekwondo Championship (2021).
6. Enjebee Chakma won the Gold Medal in the All Assam Karate  Championship (Kumite Event) in 2021.
7. Justina Borgohain won the Gold Medal in Assam Youth Olympics in 2022.
8. Justina Borgohain won the 1st position in Women's Lawn Tennis in 2022.
9. Mrigakhi Deka Raja (and others) presented the Tiwa Folk dance at "Fagunor Posuwa" in the category of Dance in the Holi celebration organised by the Ministry of Tourism (North East) at Guwahati on 8th March, 2022.
10. Mrigakhi Deka Raja received the Diploma for the 6-years course for Classical Bharatnatyam (ARANGETRAM) on 23rd October, 2022 
11. Tuhinkanya Borah won the 2nd prize in the 36th Inter University North East Zone Youth Festival organized by USTM Meghalaya, Meghalaya from January 4 to January 8, 2023.
12. Tuhinkanya Borah won the 1st position in Film Criticism at Communika 2023.
13. Bohniman Aiyan won the 1st Prize (Solo) in the Patriotic Song Competition (NBDS) 2023.
14. Mrigakhi Deka Raja was awarded the Rashtriya Nritya Kala Hira Sanman (Plaque of Honour) 2023 for Classical Dance (Indian Performing Arts) Bharatnatyam at Kaala Hira - the 7th All India Multi-Lingual Drama, Dance and Music Competition, organised by Koylanchal Bharat Coking Coal Nritya Sangita & Natya Sangh, Dhanbad, 2023. 
15. Mrigakhi Deka Raja received the 2nd position for Best Music Category of Drama (Generation 2.0) and was awarded the Talent Certificate at Kaala Hira - the 7th All India Multi-Lingual Drama, Dance and Music Competition, organised by Koylanchal Bharat Coking Coal Nritya Sangita & Natya Sangh, Dhanbad, 2023. 
16. Prarthana Bora won the 1st prize (Taekwondo) in All Assam Bruce Lee Memorial Martial Arts Championship.
17. Bohniman Aiyan won the 1st prize in Vocal (Solo) in Harmony Quest-AIM, 2024.
18. Bohniman Aiyan (and others) represented Cotton University and won the 1st Prize in Group Song in Book Fair 2024.

Ankita Sarmah Bordoloi served as the Chair in United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) Committee, 2023.
